Stella McCartney, born and raised in England, studied at the St. Martins College of Art and Design in London. Her graduation collection was already presented by top models Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, and in 1997 – after only two years – she became the first head designer of the French fashion label, Chloé. In 2001, with the support of Kering, Stella McCartney started her own label which became an international success in the years ahead.
As a vegetarian and strict animal rights advocate, Stella McCartney avoids using leather or fur. This also includes her own perfume, accessories and children’s line. To date, she has opened three flagship stores in New York, London and Los Angeles and her collections are sold in 40 countries. With her engagement on social issues as well as climate protection, Stella McCartney combines fair trade and high fashion like no other.
